What our authors say about Scientia

“The editorial process impressed me with its professionalism, exceptional writing, and prompt feedback”

Following a productive call with the Scientia publication team and reviewing positive author testimonials, I chose them to broaden the reach of my research. The editorial process impressed me with its professionalism, exceptional writing, and prompt feedback. Collaborating with Scientia was a pleasure, and the final article effectively conveys the science and its potential therapeutic impact on major age-related diseases. Through Scientia, my work will gain significantly wider readership compared to the original paper.

“We feel proud to share this publication with our professional network and with the public”

The Scientia team did a great job with implementing our suggested edits. Specifically, we like the look and feel, the full but not cramped column layout, and the tasteful and complementary background pictures. We appreciate the addition of hyperlinks, where appropriate, as well as the side-by-side placement of the authors. While the article itself is just text without any break with pictures, it adds seriousness to the content, which we like and hope impresses the importance of different business applications and possibilities to the reader. The article is just long (or short) enough to keep the attention and not drag on. Overall, we feel this is a worthwhile investment, and look forward to the traction it will create.
We feel proud to share this publication with our professional network and with the public.

“Our article has let our funder know of the broader appeal of our work and acknowledges the critical role of their support”

My editor Dr Catherine Deeprose made a very strong effort to make sure our article reflects the collaborative effort of our research. Catherine was very willing to listen to my comments and goal of having the article provide recognition to the many members of our team who did this work, of which one has already won an award. Our article has also let our funder know of the broader appeal of our work and acknowledges the critical role of their support. I enjoyed working with Scientia.

“After reading online reviews from my peers, I was convinced by Scientia’s mission and ability to share scientific information broadly”

Our main objective is to change public opinion about the dangers of asbestos; we want more of the general public to have access to scientific research that raises awareness and concern. After looking at information on the Scientia website and from reading online reviews from my peers, I was convinced by their mission and ability to share scientific information broadly via current electronic platforms. As well as reaching their own very large audience, they also pass the article rights of ownership back to me which allows me to continually make use of the article in a personal and professional setting. My experience working with Scientia did not disappoint; they were great with communication, clear with instructions, provided excellent writing and editing, and the end product is of high quality.

“I would personally describe the function of Scientia as being very similar to Scientific America, to translate and distribute complex scientific information to the general public”

We were familiar with the “predatory” comments made by a few confused academics on ResearchGate, and most definitely agree that Scientia does not fit that definition by any means.

I would personally describe the function of Scientia as being very similar to Scientific America, to translate and distribute complex scientific information and findings to the general public to increase awareness from a free, open access perspective. This not only helps the general public with better understanding some of these complex topics that scientists are sometimes to close to describe, but for PrognostX Health and an industry point of view, it’s helped us disclose some of our research and developing I.P. portfolio while not having to disclose every single detail to our competitors that peer-reviewed journals often require.

It’s a paradoxical system that we have to disclose research to raise money, which Scientia has effectively helped us do, but also not release so much that we’ve undermined and invalidated our I.P., while also losing important industrial trade secrets that would significantly damage our competitive landscape in the field.

Many, if not most, academics, have absolutely no idea how this works and we often times cannot work with them because they prematurely disclose every detail of their research, unknowingly creating prior art that prevents any IP, and commercializable products, from ever being developed from that research.

It’s a complicated system, but Scientia was the perfect middle ground of disclosure to increase investor and shareholder awareness without destroying potential for future daughter and spin off patents and products.

“I am regularly asked whether I engage in outreach to non-professionals. In this instance I can say that I have done just that”

I found working with Scientia to be a pleasant and easy experience. Comments on Research Gate suggesting that costs are hidden are simply not true. The editor who worked on my article did an excellent job of summarising a study which appears fairly simple and straightforward, but contains concepts that are not easy to explain to a lay audience or at least an audience with little background knowledge. The final article will be very useful because I am regularly asked whether I engage in outreach to non-professionals. In this instance I can say that I have done just that.

“We look forward to reaching non-technical readers and to showing funders that we have communicated our findings beyond technical science outlets.”

The quality of Scientia’s previous articles and the diverse audience they reach encouraged me to work with them. I was not disappointed: they have excellent writers, courteous staff, and attention to detail. The Scientia team worked with me to ensure our research was accurately represented. We look forward to reaching non-technical readers and those outside our immediate field of study, and to showing funders that we have communicated our findings beyond technical science outlets.

“The Scientia writers created the media from dense scientific articles I provided”

I decided to work with Scientia after a relaxed consultation discussing their processes, outcomes and potential impact for my research. They delivered exactly as discussed and the key part for me is the process the writers used to create the media from dense scientific articles I provided.

I would recommend Scientia to my peers as I believe that the product can be used in so many settings. I always struggle when asked to describe my work including for introductions at conferences, and my Scientia article will provide a valuable information source.

The write up by Scientia is a real joy to read, and I feel that it actually explains a complex reaction in a very understandable way – to a diverse audience, which I could never do. This is the kind of thing us scientists can only hope will occur – and thanks to Dr Catherine Deeprose and colleagues at Scientia – these messages are truly becoming general knowledge around the globe. “Science communication is so important but not always easy for researchers to do, and Scientia made it really simple to accomplish it”

We were already looking for ways to communicate with the public and then we came across Scientia, which is an easy way to share important research accurately, widely, and with high quality. Science communication is so important but not always easy for researchers to do, and Scientia made it really simple to accomplish it. The article production was really straight forward and required a lot less of our time than expected, any changes to make were addressed quickly and well. It was easy to share relevant information with our editor Dr. Catherine Deeprose, and the Scientia team did a great job of using our website and publications to accurately describe our projects. Our article is now published and is very easy to share with others, and quickly allows others to share the article too. I feel we got a great “bang for our buck” and have recently been contacted by a news group looking to report on our research because of the Scientia article, so the return on investment is really impressive already! I would definitely recommend Scientia to anyone with a passion, need, or desire to communicate their science beyond traditional journals.

“Just days after publishing I have received numerous comments, compliments and enquiries”

I had never tried this kind of outreach publication before. After a very convincing consultation with Scientia, it made sense to me and I thought it would be good to try something different.

I was promised a very professional service and that is exactly what I received. Everything happened exactly as the original consultation had promised—that is rather rare. I was very busy in the office, yet the Scientia team worked with me in a very effective and efficient way. The most important is that the end result was very good.

Just days after electronic publication I have received numerous comments, compliments and enquiries. I should call out Dr Nelly Berg by name, who was professional, intelligent and a joy to work with.

“The article produced is attractive and easy-to-read, which will appeal to my funding agencies and stakeholders, as well as my institution and collaborating institutions”

The service I received while working with the Scientia team was exceptional – from the initial publisher contact and phone conversation to the electronic communications with the editor and administration team. The article produced by the editorial team is attractive and easy-to-read, which will appeal to my funding agencies and stakeholders, as well as my institution and collaborating institutions, thereby contributing to the solidification and continuation of the consortium project. The article modalities provide multiple means to attractively disseminate and promote the project to stakeholders, funding agency, and our institutions. For these reasons, I would recommend Scientia to colleagues – I believe that this is a unique opportunity to get the word out and potentially get others involved and promote the continuance of funding. “Having a knowledge translation article like this will certainly broaden the scope of people that could grasp what we are doing”

We decided to work with Scientia because we saw the quality of the articles they had made for other labs, and we wanted to get a similar article for our program. Also, having a knowledge translation article like this will certainly broaden the scope of people that could grasp what we are doing and it can be easily posted on social media and understood by a large population, potentially even reaching investors who want to develop the science further. Working with Catherine and the team did not disappoint. The quality of the work is remarkable, and the team were very responsive to comments, suggestions, and had the article ready in advanced of our required short deadline. Such flexibility and response in an “emergency” situation is very valuable.

“I think Scientia has a great team that is able to bridge this communication gap and help deliver personal goals”

I thought it was a great idea to connect my science with society and to also have some outreach material that will connect with students and funding agencies. Sometimes it is difficult for scientists to communicate their research work in simple terms with non-specialists and non-scientists.

I was assigned a point of contact in the editorial phase, Dr Catherine Deeprose, who was friendly and helpful and I liked the writing and design of the article very much. I think Scientia has a great team that is able to bridge this communication gap and help deliver personal goals. I will be very happy if the article can bring new hope to patients with mental illness.

“They were clearly aware of the intrinsic difficulty in writing Scientia articles: remaining faithful to the science – to the research – while at the same time breathing some life into the writing so that it is interesting to people, especially to lay persons but also to scientists outside of the area of specialisation of any given article”

I am happy to write about my experience in working with the staff of Scientia to put an article together on the work in my lab. Of course, I cannot speak for every member of the Scientia staff, but the writer I worked with and the senior staff member I worked with (Dr Nelly Berg) were superb. I would characterise their approach in working with me (and, trust me, I’m very, very picky) as being one of patience, skill and flexibility. In other words: they were very cooperative, as well as hard working. They were clearly aware of the intrinsic difficulty that they (and we) face in writing Scientia articles: remaining faithful to the science – to the research – while at the same time breathing some life into the writing so that it is interesting to people, especially to lay persons but also to scientists outside of the area of specialisation of any given article.

I believe that it is an inherently good thing – good for science as well as good for society – for current scientific research to be presented in a way that is manageable for the lay public – but substantive and also interesting. Scientia is surely one of the best ways for that to be done. I encourage you to join the ever-increasing group of scientists who have used Scientia to present their work to a broad audience. “The editorial process is different when compared to traditional science publishing and I enjoyed all of  the additional writing, design, and editing services that they provide”

Publishing in Scientia was an easy choice, as they are one of a small number of groups communicating science to a broader audience. The editorial process is different when compared to traditional science publishing and I enjoyed all of  the additional writing, design, and editing services that they provided to help communicate my research. I welcome the additional interest in my studies and I do believe that now I have a neat summary piece on one aspect of my work that I can share with others inside and outside of my expertise. “Their professionalism and scientific understanding made the article production a very straight forward process for me”

I would like to share my thoughts on the very knowledgeable editorial team at Scientia. Their professionalism and scientific understanding made the article production a very straight forward process for me, they were also very prompt with communication and reassured from start to finish. Once I supplied a few background papers and other materials on my studies, the Scientia team digested the information and a draft article was developed in a relatively short period of time that gave a very good reflection of my overall record. This was then passed to the design team who brought the article to life with very relevant, colourful and informative imagery.

I now have an article that summarizes my work for potential interested parties, and also a publication that goes out of its way to put this in front of new and relevant audiences.

I don’t think everyone is fully aware of the production and effort that the Scientia team undertake to make these beautiful articles possible. I encourage you to make contact and find out what they can do for you if you are interested in communicating your research in an effective way.

“The article is a fascinating, informative, provocative summary of my long-term research for not only professional biologists, but also curious naturalists and funding agencies”

Working with the editorial team at Science Diffusion has been the most fun, rewarding, and satisfying editorial interaction, ever, in the 41 years since I completed my Ph.D. in 1976. Their attention to accuracy, clarity, format, and presentation has been outstanding. The article entitled ‘Prairie dogs are charming and cute, but they are also serial killers’ is a fascinating, informative, provocative summary of my long-term research for not only professional biologists, but also curious naturalists and funding agencies. “The article has been useful for professionals, research participants, parents, and for other researchers to look and understand our program”

We chose to work with Scientia because we were after some accessible material about our intervention that was written for the public, we were approached by the organisation and were given a detailed explanation of how they could help. This sort of writing can be difficult for academics! The editorial process was quick and easy, this is down to the excellent communication from the Scientia team. The turnaround time for production was very quick without being too intensive for us.

One year on, the service and outcome of materials provided by Science Diffusion have been widely read and the feedback we receive is that the information is very accessible and clear. The article provides a good overview of our program, its aims, history and main outcomes. Visually the article is very friendly and shows professionalism with ease of access. The article has been useful for professionals to see and have a first look at our program, for research participants, for parents, and for other researchers.

As the articles are published under a creative commons licence and we are classed as the authors, we have unlimited and unrestricted use, we have maximised the dissemination use independently and host the article on our website and send out when anyone asks about the program. Very useful! and highly recommended if you want/need an additional communication channel.

“Our research has now been made more publicly available and is in a much more usable manner for varied levels within and outside of the academic setting”

I was very happy with the final product produced by Science Diffusion. The presentation was absolutely stunning, highlighting our work in the best light possible. The content was cleverly shaped to be accessible to a broader audience – this will help us reach audiences we had not been able to reach before or had even thought about reaching. The information from our research has now been made more publicly available and is in a much more usable manner for varied levels within and outside of the academic setting. If you want your research to be disseminated and to make a difference beyond the academic world, you should definitely work with Science Diffusion. It will make a difference in reaching groups you had never even thought about and can make a difference in saving lives.

“We look forward to the extra interest this will bring to our research”

Myself and Prof. Eguchi were very curious as to the approach of Science Diffusion. This is a new format and style of dissemination to us but we were intrigued to see how this could be of benefit to us. Before we decided to take this forward, we spoke with a member of staff at Science Diffusion to find out more about the editorial process and how they could help with our broader dissemination needs.

Following our conversation we decided to undertake an article within Scientia, we were informed that the majority of the editorial process would be taken on by the writing and design team at Science Diffusion with a small amount of input from us to make sure the final article would be represent our goals and standards.

We were not disappointed, the team at Science Diffusion were very understandable of our busy schedules and slight language barrier. They did their upmost to accommodate our needs and requirements and delivered a beautifully polished article, written and designed (special mention the accommodation of the design team) to actually help connect with people in and outside of our research area and beyond. We look forward to the extra interest this will bring to our research and we would highly recommend Science Diffusion to those who are wanting to engage in a new and exciting format of dissemination.

“I use this as a dissemination hand-out at conferences”

I was curious to work with the Scientia team and see how they could help me with my dissemination efforts. I was not disappointed, they have a very creative team of writers and designers and they delivered me a professional, well written and beautifully designed article that goes beyond the traditional formats of publishing I am familiar with.

They were very clever in their writing, as not only did the article appear in a recent journal edition but they also produced this in a way that I could use this outside of the journal as an independent piece for some time to come.

They created me a personal front cover for my article and I now use this as a dissemination hand-out at conferences, to contacts and colleagues, web portals and generally use for all my broader dissemination activities.

I host the article directly on ResearchGate and I get a weekly update about the interest in my publications, so I know the Scientia paper is popular.

I would highly recommend this service and have already put my colleagues in contact with the Scientia team.
